PatternScan Pro is a pattern digitizing app: photograph your paper sewing pattern and get a true-to-scale digital version with automatically detected contours. No scanner, no digitizing table, no special hardware.
Built for pattern work instead of production floors: the precision comes from camera calibration and the printed Reference Tiles, not from hardware.

Digitizing tables and large-format scanners are industrial tools with industrial prices, built for production floors. A pattern digitizing app uses the camera you already own. The printed Reference Tiles and camera calibration do the precision work that hardware would otherwise do.
Already know where your pattern needs to go? Jump straight to your workflow: SVG for vector programs, DXF for CAD or PACX for CLO3D.
PatternScan Pro handles distortion correction, scaling and contour detection automatically. Go straight from photo to usable digital pattern.
Lay your cut-out pattern piece on a dark surface, place the four Reference Tiles around it and photograph it from above. Our photography guide shows the ideal photo.
PatternScan Pro corrects the perspective and detects the contours automatically. You review the result in the editor, measure lengths and adjust curves where needed.
Choose SVG, DXF or PACX at export, depending on where you keep working. Every export is true to scale in millimeters.
Try the three steps with your own pattern.
PatternScan Pro runs in your browser, with a companion app for capturing. Photograph with your phone, edit and export on the big screen.

The four printed Reference Tiles around your pattern tell the app exactly how large everything is. PatternScan Pro also corrects the distortion of your camera lens. Together this is what makes photo-based digitizing precise enough for real pattern work. You can verify it yourself: measure a known length after importing.
More on the tiles in our reference guide.
Which phone do I need?
A current smartphone camera is enough. PatternScan Pro Mobile is available for iPhone and Android. On the desktop you can upload photos from any camera together with a calibration profile.

Do I need special hardware?
No. A smartphone camera and a normal printer for the Reference Tiles are enough. There is no scanner, no plotter and no special equipment involved.

Does the pattern have to be cut out?
For automatic detection, yes. The app detects free-standing contours, so cut your pattern along its lines before photographing. Alternatively you can draw the contour manually in the editor, for example on an uncut multi-size sheet. PatternScan Pro still handles calibration, distortion correction and the transfer into any software.
