The seam allowance is the strip of fabric between the seam line and the cut edge. It gives the seam the room it needs, commonly 0.7 to 1.5 cm.
If the paper pattern has no allowance, PatternScan Pro adds it: the cutting edge appears dashed around the outside, with a width you set, per edge if needed. If the paper already includes it, you say so and the seam line is computed inward. Both lines go into the export.
